The Emperor’s New Suit

The Emperor’s New Suit is Hans Christian Andersen’s classic satirical tale following a vain ruler who cares more about lavish clothing than governing his empire. Two swindlers arrive at the kingdom claiming to weave a magical suit of clothes that remains invisible to anyone who is unfit for their position or simple-minded. Unwilling to admit they cannot see the fabric, the emperor and his courtiers pretend to admire the non-existent outfit. The humorous farce reaches its peak during a grand public procession, where a child finally speaks the truth and exposes the folly of adult vanity and peer pressure.
